The Team Florida Eddie Wortman Graduating Senior Scholarship Award is given to every gymnast actively involved in the Team Florida Gymnastics program, both in Artistic and Acrobatic Gymnastics. It is given in memory of Eddie Wortman, a long time coach and supporter of the Team Florida Gymnastics program. The criteria for awarding the scholarship is as over Eddie's wishes shortly before his passing. Eddie felt that EVERY graduating senior deserves our programs support if at all possible as she/he embarks on the road to adulthood, rather than making it a "contest".
Each year during the awards ceremonies at the Spring Team Florida State Championship, the scholarship is presented to all graduating high school seniors who have actively competed in at least one year of the Team Florida program qualifiers and the State Championship. In Artistic and Acrobatic Gymnastics, competition in at least one event in a level is required.
Amount of scholarship is dependent upon number of applicants. A minimum of $500.00 will be awarded to each athlete. Team Florida appreciates additional continuing financial support for our scholarship program from Phil and Gail Wortman, Eddie's parents and Tim Keckler's Gasparilla Give-Back foundation.
Please completely fill out the Team Florida Eddie Wortman Graduating Senior Scholarship award application form and return NO LATER THAN 60 days prior to the date of the Team Florida Spring State Championship of the current year to:

In 2001 the C. Gene Stowe Invitational was established in partnership with Tampa Parks and Recreation Department and Can-Do, Inc. to recognize Mr. Stowe’s long commitment and contribution to the sport of gymnastics. Mr. Stowe began his 2nd career in gymnastics after retirement from the military some 35 years ago. It is with a heavy heart to inform all that Mr. Stowe has recently passed away, leaving behind a long lasting legacy within our sport that will carry on for years to come! This scholarship will help to carry on that legacy by celebrating the athletes that have given their youth to the same sport that Mr. Stowe had given his heart.
